Silo Events - Tours, Talks, and More!

There's a lot going on at the Silo

Custom cooking classes, shopping, tasting, museum tours, slide shows, and gallery talks are among the offerings for groups and tours visiting Hunt Hill Farm. Located in the Litchfield Hills of western Connecticut, Hunt Hill Farm has been the location of the Silo since 1972 - a combination cooking school, art gallery, and gourmet kitchenware/food store. Now operating under the auspices of the Hunt Hill Farm Trust as a non-profit organization for preservation, the farm is also host to the Skitch Henderson Living Museum, Hunt Hill Farm Preserve, and the Henderson Americana Center for Culture & the Creative Arts.

On-going events at Hunt Hill Farm

Ideal for groups 12 to 40 people, The Silo’s offerings include:

Custom Cooking Classes – Customized classes on nearly any subject – from chocolate, breads, salads, herbs and vegetarian cooking to low-fat, high-flavor foods, Chinese, Italian, French, and other cuisine – can be arranged. Cookbook authors, chefs, caterers, and other culinary authorities lead the hands-on classes. A second option is a one-hour demonstration of a luncheon class where students enjoy afterwards the food they learned to prepare. Another popular option includes a demonstration by the chef of a local restaurant, and then a trip to the restaurant for lunch.

Businesses and corporations should consider scheduling a teambuilding class where participants work together in groups to prepare a menu that will encourage teamwork and creativity. Along these same lines these same lines is a teambuilding class resembling the "Iron Chef" competition. Broken into two groups and provided with the same ingredients, the groups must develop a creative menu. A chef works alongside the groups and afterwards serves as a judge.
